One statement Piece

Whoever said, “less is more” had wisdom. And if they had the styling of fashion accessories in their mind, that surely stands to be one hundred per cent true. You can be wearing one of the most boring and casual outfits that you can think of but one small statement piece can change the definition of your look completely.

You can add all sorts of statement pieces as accessories but the go-to pieces that one chooses to adorn themselves with are jewelery pieces. Dive deep to know more about how a small piece can change your look completely.

  1. Jewellery

Neck Pieces

Remember, that pearl necklace that has been passed to you through various generations. Yes, that can be your ultimate statement piece. Multiple thin chains added as one neckpiece are a trend nowadays. A pendant that tells the people about your birth sign can be your introductory piece.

But why stop there? Choose a tie-dye print t-shirt and add a boho choker to it. Or a traditional necklace to give it a perfect boho-chic look. That could define your style in a different light altogether.

Ear Pieces

When you are wearing a high-neck or a round neck, a neckpiece might not be the perfect choice to pair that outfit with. In that case, invest in some earpieces. You can go for trendy colorful pieces. Or delicate pieces inspired by nature. Long dangles are the perfect ones for that evening gown. Pearl earrings could go with anything. And ear loops would be fun for that brunch date with friends.

Small studs or dots are good options for a statement ear look. You can also go for one earring in one ear and leave the rest. Because you only play by your own rules.

Rings

Ever been attracted by a hand at a party? Why not? Finger rings are the best way to not only define that you are taken but also to show your true personality. A skull ring can show that you are a rebel at heart. But a small butterfly ring can denote your true feminine side. A giant ring with multiple colourful stones can be the topic of discussion after the party is over. Just match it with the way you are feeling and the vibe you want to convey.

Bracelets

Since when did bracelets go out of fashion? Even when they are big chunky ones or they are small delicate ones for that delicate wrist, they always go well with your arms. If you are going for a really simple look with no accessories, a big chunky bracelet could be a perfect addition to your look. Many bangles or bracelets in multiple sizes are the best way to enhance that style quotient.

2. Watches

If you are going to an office party or getting ready for that office presentation, wearing a Patek Philippe can define your style and authority better than your outfit. You can choose between the multiple ranges of rose gold, gold, silver etc. Do not doubt your confidence for a moment when you have put on the accessory of a modern woman.

The Colour Theory

Remember that video that went viral on TikTok about Color Theory? The make-up Industry knows how to use it to its best advantage. The fashion industry caught up with that and started analyzing which colours would suit their skin tone. And now it is the time for jewellery matching.

Warm Tone: Those who can see the nerves on their skin as green are warm-toned people. Warm skin tones look best with Green, yellow and Orange. You can go with both Gold and copper-tinted jewels.

Cool Tone: Those who can see their veins as blue are cool-toned people. Cool tones look best with Blue, Red and Purple.

Neutral Tone: People with Neutral skin tones can go with any kind of jewellery. Gold, Silver or mixed jewels.

3. Diamonds are your best friends.

You’ve heard this before, that Diamonds are your best friends. Have you ever wondered why? Because they go with anything you wear, and in any way, you want to wear it. Diamond earrings, a necklace, a diamond bracelet or a small diamond pendant. No matter which one you choose for your look, it would all be perfect and would attract attention.

Add a little oomph to your look.

When Zarna Garg, the Indian- American comedian and screenwriter started her career, she didn’t want to leave her Indian roots behind. She did her initial shows in Indian attire that included a kurti as an upper, a salwar combined with a dupatta. But that long fabric is hard to carry when you are busy making a huge audience laugh.

That is where Zarna showed her creativity towards her fashion styling and redefined her way of carrying Indian attire. She added a belt around her waist that not only made the look less boring and a lot cleaner but also practical.

In her later shows, she completely ditched the dupatta but carried on with the belts around her waist.

Her looks are some of the most practical and modern looks to be inspired from if you are going for a presentable-looking inspiration.

4. Belts

Talking about Belts, you might also remember that scene from Devil Wears Prada. Where Miranda Priestly, the character played by Meryl Streep, decided on a belt and rejected the other one. If you also get confused about which belts to wear and which ones to reject, we can help you with that.

  1. Always go with the belts that can elongate your body frame. Thin belts are generally the best ones for this purpose. Especially, if you are going for a short dress.
  2. If you want your belt to be the statement piece of your look. You can always go for chunkier and heavy buckled belts. You can have a few with textures, rhinestones and with other types of embellished belts. Make sure you tuck in your blouse or shirt with a bold belt for a cleaner look.
  3. The colour of the belt can also make or break your look. You can match it either with your footwear or your handbag. Neutral tones like black, brown and nudes work all the time.
  4. You can wear a very simple, monochromatic dress but add a bright-colored, chunkier belt to make your look stand out.
  5. Belts can create a difference if you have a baggy outfit. Just tie a belt around your waist for a defined look.

Your Hair could change your look completely.

I never understood why my mother always asked me to go to a good salon for my haircut until I came to know the importance of it. How a good haircut that not only suits my face shape but also my skin tone can create a huge difference in my look. Take notes, from the super model Bella Hadid herself. Her natural hair colour is blonde but she has always coloured her hair black, ever since she started her modelling career. Now, we can’t imagine her in any other hair colour than brunette.

5. Hair accessories

You can spend a fortune at the salon but if you don’t know how to carry that expensive cut now and then, your look might become boring day after day. Hair accessories can help you avoid that. Consider a ton of clips, hairbands or beads, and mix them for a cute look or a put-together, aesthetically pleasing and elite hairdo.

Blend it like a Pro

You wish that piling on all the accessories that you liked was the way to show your style. However, that is far from the perfect styling that we often try to achieve.

The rule of thumb while going for accessorizing is to go with 1 or 2 statement pieces that go with your outfit. You need to make sure that it compliments what you are wearing in one way or another instead of outshining them.

For example: Large hoop earrings with a neutral outfit can be your look but a large hoop earring with a chunky, wide, pink belt on a purple top would make your look messy. So, either go with the belt or your favourite earrings.

Similarly, always look for the colour blend.

Another rule of thumb is to match your belt with footwear or the bag you are planning to carry. If you are carrying a cherry red bag, go with a cherry red footwear and that would make you look put together.

Black footwear along with a black belt is always a go-to move for an effortless look.

6. Footwear can make or break your look

Talking about footwear is an essential part when you are accessorizing. The right pairing of footwear can make your look from a casual everyday look, to a cute look to a sexy model look.

Boots

Boots come in all shapes and sizes. From thigh-high boots to ankle-length boots. Make sure you pair them accordingly.

While thigh-high boots always go with shorts and mini-skirts.

Mini skirts can also be paired with knee-high boots.

But jeans and jeggings can easily be paired with ankle-length boots.

Always remember that your boots and outfit don’t overlap each other and define your height instead of hiding it.

     Heels

Heels can make you look sexy and cute all at the same time. Ranging from platform heels to stilettos. We do not promote uncomfortable heels. But there are some delicate ones in the stores that can make you look elegant and enhance your femininity quotient by an inch higher. If you are just starting in the world of wearing heels, you can start with wedges while your feet can become familiar with walking with high ankles.

     Flats and Sandals

No summer is complete without wearing flats or sandals. They are just so airy and comfortable, that you can’t miss out on them. And of course, they are your best friends on a beach day. They take a walk on the beach like a cakewalk.

But you don’t need to compromise on your style. From Ballerina Slippers to Strapped sandals, they can all compliment your look. And why just the beach, you can wear them as an office sandal. After all, it’s your style and only you can define it.

A little Shade can add a lot of Style

Another aspect of Summer is the continuous quest to keep up with the scorching heat of the sun. And no matter how hard you try; you just can’t keep away from the sun’s rays. But, along with your sunblock, you can wear your style. And you have two soldiers on your side.

7. Sunglasses

It is always suggested to wear big sunglasses when you are stepping out in the sun. As the skin around your eyes is thin and sensitive it loses its moisture soon. However, with the set of options available at the moment. You can always mix and match your glasses. OR you can wear that one statement sunglasses everywhere. It’s your style and it should only be defined by you.

8.  Hats

Are we going to spend some time in the Hamptons? Not necessarily true. Hats are the most underrated piece of accessories. It not only saves your head from the direct heat of the sun but also keeps shade on your face as well. But the over-large hats are not the only ones that you need. Take inspiration from Audrey Hepburn and try on different sizes for different looks. It will make you look elegant to quirky within seconds.

9. Bag the look of the Season

Women enjoy pockets but women also prefer a practical bag that can carry all their necessities, also that does not compromise with style. Since there is no one way of defining your style. Your bags also need to change as per your moods.

Totes

Totes are the best friends for an office girly and a literature lover. Check out these to know which ones you need to carry.

   Casual Bags

These can be slinging bags, cross-body bags etc. But they are your perfect match for that brunch date with besties.

       Fancy Bags

Last but not least, you need one for that evening at the club as well as a party clutch. It needs to compliment the bling of your dress.

10. Scarves all the way!

Another accessory inspiration that we can steal from Audrey Hepburn is scarves. The flexible piece of clothing that can save you from a bad hair day on a windy day and then perfectly ties to your handbag. It works as a napkin when you want it to and with a trick or two can be converted into a tie around your neck replacing the necklace. If styling yourself is your way, your scarf is your best partner.

11.Nails

The perfect weapons in the hands of a woman. Nails have gained more attention from us lately than they ever had. We can miss anything but not our nail salon appointments. We just need to make sure that our nails do not only go with our mood but also our style quotient.
